Right wing nuts are blaming the scandalous state of Walter Reed Hospital on their favorite whipping post: the federal government. It turns out, however, that the steep decline in quality of care is due to the Bush administration's push for privatization.
And who do you suppose was placed in charge of the newly privatized hospital services? None other than "IAP Worldwide Services, which is run by Al Neffgen, a former senior Halliburton official."
Kelly Kennedy of the Army Times has the story. "[T]he push to privatize support services [at Walter Reed] accelerated under President Bush’s ‘competitive sourcing’ initiative, which was launched in 2002... ."
Oh, wait. Maybe those wingnuts have a point. Bush is head of the federal government, right?
