Greenwald on Sotomayor

President Obama's first, but probably not last, nominee to the U.S. Supreme Court is U.S. Circuit Court judge Sonia Sotomayor. Don't know much about her, so we checked in to see what Glenn Greenwald has to say about her.

Since Glenn is the only lawyer we know for sure had a constitutional law case before her, we figured he'd know a lot more than all the blow-dry hairdos and exploding heads on Tee-Vee. And he does.

Maybe Glenn and you haven't heard about why she backed the city of New Haven in a racial discrimination case, Ricci v. DeStefano? He didn't mention it. This is a case where nineteen white and one Hispanic firemen sued after they took an exam to decide who would get promoted. The city abandoned the results after no black firemen got good enough marks to win promotion.

That justice should be 'blind,' she doesn't seem ready for the job with that kind of decision.
