Early this morning reality sank in with the media when the storm came ashore near Ft. Walton Beach. It's going to be a rainy day in the panhandle, that's about it.
How many times can the media cry wolf (while peddling dog foods and anti-depressants) before people stop paying attention? And how long after that will it be before a real tropical wolf slams into a large, somnambulant population grown skeptical about the media's ability to report anything straight?

The problem, if they had looked at the radar, was that the storm was one-sided. Apalachicola, Panama City, Destin, Bay and Walton counties got blasted, but I was about five miles west of where it made landfall, at the Coast Guard station on the eastern end of Okaloosa Island, and got maybe a quarter inch of rain and winds below 20mph.
The entire storm was on the eastern side, and I could see that by looking at the radar.
They keep fixating on the center, and don't understand what storms are like.
Hopefully it gets downgraded before it hits the mainland.
All the cable news channels are in a race to see who can be more sensational, scare their viewers more, and get higher ratings. They are all trying to top each other by showing horrible pics of floods and storm damage only it was ALL IN BLACK AND WHITE because they were OLD storms. Nothing was happening with this one. It's like they WANT damage and suffering and are disappointed when they don't get it.
