George W. Bush, Apr. 28:"The national anthem ought to be sung in English. And I think people who want to be citizens of this country... ought to learn to sing the national anthem in English."Do you suppose that George knows the original tune to the Star Spangled Banner doesn't belong to America, either? It comes from a bawdy London lawyers' pub song titled "To Anacreon in Heaven."
Still, 'Incurious George' may be on to something here. Let's wipe the slate clean and start over. No one gets 'grandfathered'.
From now on, you can't be a U.S. citizen unless you can sing all of the lyrics to the Star Spangled Banner in tune. Once we've deported the rest of you miserable shower-singers, it'll leave more gas for the rest of us.
