Really Bad Opera Notes

The great American composer John Adams started it all with plots ripped right out of today's headlines, like the instant classic Nixon in China and his new smash hit Doctor Atomic.

Now, as Jimmy Durante used to say, "everybody wants to get inna de act." According Sports Illustrated,"Nancy Kerrigan's 1994 knee-capping by an associate of rival Tonya Harding has been adapted for Nancy and Tonya: The Opera".

If you like that, you might love "Monica and Linda", a new operetta by Paul Nelson. The libretto is taken "from the actual transcript of the secret recordings which Linda Tripp made of her conversations with Monica Lewinsky."
