Words Fail Us

Words fail us. The great and hilarious blog satirist, "Jon Swift" aka Al Weisel, has died at the too-young age of 46. Tom Watson has the tragic story. His mother posted the sad news in the comments section of the "Jon Swift" blog early this morning. Scroll down a bit and you'll see this:

We didn't know him personally, unlike many now grieving on-line here and here, among many other places, but like all of his loyal readers and friends we recognized in him a truly gifted writer and a comic genius. His Amazon.com book reviews, which he had to archive on his own site when the on-line book seller finally caught on to what was happening and deleted them, stand in our mind as one of the all-time great collections of Internet humor. Occasionally, too, he gave an anonymous interview which had flashes of the same gentle irony that was consistently displayed in his writing.

The world is a poorer, much sadder place for his loss.

I was stunned when I saw this today, and very sad. He was just that good.

May he rest in eternal peace.
