Swamped by all the Gulf Coast Katrina news, we missed this news last week, referenced in today's Miami Herald:

While the federal government has agreed to reimburse local governments for the cost of the storm, the Federal Emergency Management Agency last week rejected a request by Miami-Dade and Broward counties to provide support to local homeowners whose homes were damaged by Hurricane Katrina.
