The National Hurricane Center late Tuesday night named the 16th tropical depression of the season. Tropical Storm Ophelia early Wednesday morning had winds exceeding 39 mph.
The somewhat ragged storm formed Tuesday southeast of Miami. Although there is uncertainty in the computer model projections, the NHC reports the storm likely will skirt Florida's east coast before making landfall early Saturday near Jacksonville.
As much as 10 inches of rain is expected along the east coast, with some isolated areas seeing up to 15 inches.
